2027 Teen Workshop
Why ICF?
Train alongside professionals. Take class and work in the same room as professional dancers from across the country, and see what a working dance career looks like up close.
No application fee, no audition. Every dancer who wants to be here gets a spot in the room. We keep costs affordable so money isn't what stands between you and a great week of dance.
Make new work, together. This workshop is collaborative. You won't just learn existing choreography; you'll help create new choreography as part of an ensemble and see how a piece grows from an idea to the stage.
A real performance. The week builds to a fully produced show on August 7, with the staging and production of a professional event.
A place where you belong. We build a positive, inclusive environment for dancers of every level, whether you've danced for two years or twelve.

Classes and Workshop
July 30 – August 5, 2027, Monday - Friday 5-9pm and Saturday - Sunday 12-4pm
This includes a 1.5-hour class, a short break and 2+ hours of choreography and rehearsal. Expect a mix of technique, movement exploration, and creative collaboration, all working toward the August 7 performance. All classes and workshops take place at various studios around the greater Des Moines area.
Performance
The performance will be Saturday, August 7th at Riverview Park Amphitheater in Des Moines. There will also be a tech rehearsal, date and time TBD, either Thursday, August 6th or during the day August 7th.
Cost
The tuition for the week is $400. No application fee. No costume fee. No tickets to buy. If the cost is prohibitive in any way, send us an email and let us know you are interested and what you think you can pay. We don’t want to turn anyone away due to cost.
Audition
None. Dancers age 12 -17 of all levels welcome. When you apply, indicate your level of experience, as this helps the selected choreographer plan for rehearsals. We believe that there is a place for all levels in a collaborative process.
This summer join the Teen Workshop at the Iowa Choreography Festival for a week of classes, collaboration, and a fully produced performance. You'll learn from working dance professionals, take part in making brand-new choreography, and share it on stage. No application fee. No audition. Just show up ready to dance.
