Luke Dakota Zender
Luke Dakota Zender is a gender nonconforming, non binary movement-based performance artist who values the art of storytelling over technique. They believe that movement is for all. “What we do as artists represents what is possible with our bodies, imaginations, and imperfections; it’s the human experience with a groove and a hitch kick”. Zender has been dancing and choreographing in Los Angeles, New York, and a few places in between for the last ten years, both in the commercial and concert worlds. In that time, they prioritized equity and inclusion above all else. They believe that dance, particularly dance education, can transcend and teach life skills valuable to anyone in every part of life. As a dancer, Luke Dakota has been privileged to study under David Dorfman, Bill T. Jones, Anouk Van Dijk, Debbie Allen, and many more. They have performed for Sean Keylock Company, Bodyart, Contemporary Dance Wyoming, Invertigo Dance Theatre, Heidi Duckler Dance, Alice Klock, and more. Luke Dakota is consistently creating their work to continuously ask some of life’s most complex questions.
